Once upon a time (Jednou za čas) in a small village (v malé vesnici) there lived a young boy named Tambor (Tambor). He was an excellent drummer and loved nothing more than to play his drum wherever he went.
One day, Tambor heard that the emperor (císař) was visiting a neighboring town (sousední město). The emperor was known to be a great lover of music, and Tambor thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to show off his skills.
So, Tambor set out on a long journey (dlouhá cesta) to the town where the emperor was visiting. When he arrived, he found that hundreds of other musicians had also come to perform for the emperor.
Tambor wasn’t discouraged though, and he decided to play his drum anyway. As he played, the crowd began to gather around him, drawn in by his rhythmic beats and infectious energy.
Suddenly, the emperor himself appeared, intrigued by the commotion (pobouření). He was amazed (ohromen) when he saw Tambor playing his drum, and he declared that Tambor was the best musician he had ever heard.
Tambor was overjoyed (radostný) and honored (ctihodný) by the emperor’s praise, and he was invited to play at the emperor’s palace (palác) that evening.
That night, Tambor arrived at the palace and was shown to the grand ballroom (velký sál). There, he saw that the emperor had invited all of the other musicians who had performed earlier that day.
Tambor wasn’t deterred though, and he began to play his drum with even greater gusto than before. The other musicians were amazed by his skill, and they began to join in, creating a beautiful symphony of sound.
The emperor was overjoyed (nadšený) by the music, and he declared that Tambor should be made the court musician (dvorní hudebník). From that day forward, Tambor played for the emperor whenever he desired, and he lived out the rest of his days in the lap of luxury and adoration.
And so (a tak), Tambor proved that even a humble drummer from a small village could win the heart of an emperor with his music. The end (konec).
