Jeho osud byl již od samého počátku zpečetěn neuvěřitelným osudem a následující události pouze dokázaly, že v jeho případě neplatí pravidla běžného světa…“
(English translation: „Once upon a time, there was a dark night when a mysterious veil shrouded the woods and a terrifying aura hung in the air. Whether it was the cause of something supernatural or simply a trick of the human mind, one thing is certain – it was on that very night that the Devil’s brother-in-law was born. His fate was sealed from the very beginning with an incredible destiny, and the following events only proved that the rules of the ordinary world did not apply in his case…“)
Once upon a time, in the Czech lands, there lived a man named Karel. Karel was a hardworking man and had a happy family, but he always wanted more. He dreamed of becoming rich and famous, and he was willing to do anything to achieve his goals.
One day, Karel met a strange man on the road. The man had dark hair and a sinister smile, and Karel felt uneasy around him. The man introduced himself as the Devil’s Brother-in-Law and offered to make Karel rich and famous in exchange for his soul.
Karel was tempted and agreed to the deal. The Devil’s Brother-in-Law gave Karel a bag of gold and promised to make him famous in the village. Karel was overjoyed and spent the gold on luxury items and a grand house.
But soon, misfortune struck Karel’s family. His children fell ill, his wife became unhappy, and his crops failed. Karel realized that he had made a terrible mistake and asked the Devil’s Brother-in-Law to cancel the deal.
The Devil’s Brother-in-Law refused and said that Karel belonged to him forever. He also revealed that he had cursed Karel’s family and the village with bad luck.
Karel was devastated and begged for mercy. He decided to seek help from the wise old woman in the nearby forest. The old woman was known for her magical powers and for helping people in need.
Karel found the old woman’s hut deep in the forest and explained his situation. The old woman listened carefully and agreed to help him. She gave him a potion to drink and a magic word to chant.
Karel returned home and gathered his family to chant the magic word together. As they chanted, a bright light appeared, and the curse was broken. Karel’s family was healed, and the village’s luck improved.
The Devil’s Brother-in-Law was furious and appeared before Karel. He demanded to know how Karel had broken the curse. Karel explained that he had sought the help of the wise old woman and used her magic potion and word.
The Devil’s Brother-in-Law was impressed and decided to make a deal with Karel. He promised to cancel the original deal and give Karel and his family a lifetime of good luck in exchange for the old woman’s magical potion and word.
Karel agreed, and the Devil’s Brother-in-Law kept his promise. Karel’s family lived happily ever after with good fortune, and the Devil’s Brother-in-Law gained a powerful new tool for his devilish schemes.
And so, the tale of the Devil’s Brother-in-Law and Karel’s misfortune became a cautionary tale in the Czech lands. It reminded people to be wary of making deals with the devil and to seek help from the wise old woman if necessary.
Ponaučení z pohádky na dobrou noc
V pohádce „Ďáblův švagr“ byl Karel, tvrdě pracující muž žijící v českých zemích, posedlý touhou po bohatství a slávě. Jednoho dne se setkal se zvláštním mužem, který se představil jako Ďáblův švagr. Tento muž mu nabídl obchod, ve kterém by mu dal zlaté sny za jeho duši. Karel souhlasil a dostal pytel zlaťáků a slávu v obci.
Karel byl nadšený a utratil zlato za luxusní věci a velký dům, ale jeho štěstí se rychle obrátilo. Jeho děti onemocněly, jeho žena byla nešťastná a jeho úrody selhaly. Karel pochopil svou chybu a požádal Ďáblův švagra o zrušení obchodu, ale ten odmítl. V tom okamžiku švagrovým kouzlem se ocitlo celé městečko.
