Jednou v daleké zemi žil zručný trpaslík jménem Andvare. Byl odborníkem na kovářské umění a vyráběl mnoho ceněných předmětů s jeho magickými schopnostmi. Vlastnil však jednu ceněnou věc, která měla pro něj zvláštní místo v srdci – zlatý prsten obrovského bohatství a velké moci.
Král se dozvěděl o Andvarově zlatém prstenu, který uměl svému nositeli poskytnout nezničitelnost a nespočetné bohatství. Mudrc poznal kletbu na Andvarově prstenu a vysvětlil rybáři, že prsten musí vrátit Andvarovi, jenž jediný mohl kletbu rozptýlit. Rybář Andvarovi prsten vrátil. Andvare byl dojat rybářovou upřímností a pokorou, a tak na kletbě prstenu zapracoval a vrátil prsten zpět rybáři, který mohl prsten využívat bez jakéhokoliv nebezpečí. Tento příběh nás učí, že posedlost mocí a bohatstvím může mít nečekané důsledky a že pouze ti, kteří jsou k sobě i k druhým upřímní, mohou v životě najít pravé štěstí a úspěch.
